Fire Insurance Rating

The Insurance Services Office (ISO) fire rating is a score showing how prepared an area is for fires. Lower ISO fire ratings equal lower insurance premiums. The main factors in a rating are the:

  • capability of your local fire department
  • distance of your property from the fire station
  • available water supply

Our volunteer fire departments work hard to earn the lowest ISO rating possible.

Manpower Squad Program

The Manpower Squad program began in January 2017.  The goal of the program is to provide additional response personnel. These personnel would aid our volunteer fire departments.  Currently there are three shifts of four people each who provide emergency response 24/7. 

Members of the squad are certified firefighters, EMT’s and Hazardous Material Responders. Many squad members have additional certifications. These certifications are above and beyond the minimum, including technical rescue.

Fire Studies and Reports

Cabarrus County Fire Services uses third party experts. They provide an evaluation of the current state of fire services in the county. These reports are available for download to the public.

Register Your Alarm System

You must register your alarm system per the False Alarm Reduction Ordinance. This does not apply to the Cities of Concord and Kannapolis. They maintain their own alarm registration programs.

Apply For A NC Burn Permit

Residents of unincorporated Cabarrus County can apply for a burn permit. Submit the online application available on the NC Forest Service website.
