Our precinct officials are key people during an election. Officials are appointed by the Cabarrus County Board of Elections to serve for a 2 year term. The appointments are made in August of odd numbered years. These things factor into being a precinct official:
- a registered voter’s party affiliation
- residential address
- character
NC Election Laws & Rules have specific requirements and restrictions when appointing precinct officials.
Precinct officials must work on Election Day starting between 5:30 am - 5:45 am. The time will depend on precinct location. They must stay until closing of the polls and reconciliation of the election. This is usually between 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm. They must also help set up the precinct on Monday before the election. Times will vary according to precinct.
Precinct officials are your friends, co-workers and neighbors. We need your help too!
