Cabarrus County voters use paper ballots when voting. After you sign-in at the registration station, a poll worker will give you a paper ballot. Mark your selections on the paper ballot with the pen provided to you. Beside your selection of candidate name or issue is an oval. Mark a selection for every contest by filling in the oval completely.
You must fill in the oval completely and stay within the lines. Only select the number of choices allowed for each contest. To write in a candidate, fill in the oval beside "write in" and fill in the name of your choice.
The paper-based ExpressVote Universal Voting System uses touch-screen technology. A paper record is produced for tabulation. As a marker, the ExpressVote handles the entire marking system. This eliminating unclear marks and the need for interpretation of the voter's mark. This machine replaces the AutoMark. Voters with accessible voting needs will use this machine.
