Apply for a Pyrotechnic or Blasting Permit

Step 1.Fees

There is a $300 fee for all pyrotechnic/blasting permit applications. You may pay by mail, by phone with a credit card or drop off your payment at the Fire Services Office.

Step 2.Fill out all fields on the form

Complete and accurate information allows processing of your permit to proceed on time.

Step 3.Provide all required documents

You must provide the following documents:

• Operator’s credentials
• Certificate of liability insurance
• Map of the blast site

Step 4.Permit guidelines

A pyrotechnic/blast permit is subject to the following guidelines:

• It is only applicable to the site on the application
• Valid only for the person/firm to whom it is issued
• Limitation and conditions shall be adhered to at all times
• Pyrotechnic/blasting operations and explosive materials storage and handling shall be in accordance with the current edition of the NC Fire Code and NFPA Standards
• Permits will be revoked for providing false information  or failing to follow the above guidelines

Step 5.Notification prior to blasting operations

The operator shall notify Cabarrus County Communications at 704-920-3000 each day prior to beginning operations.

Step 6.Pyrotechnic/blasting permits within town or city limits

Cabarrus County Fire Services does not provide pyrotechnic/blasting permits for locations inside the limits of the City of Concord, City of Kannapolis or the Town of Harrisburg.
