Step 1.Fees

There is a $293 fee for all tank installation/removal applications. You may pay by mail, by phone with a credit card or drop off your payment at the Fire Services Office.

Step 2.Application Submittal

Submit your application 30 days in advance of installation or removal.

Step 3.Fill out all fields on the form

Complete and accurate information allows processing of your permit to proceed on time.

Step 4.Attach all documents

Installation or removal of storage tanks requires detailed documentation. Some documents that you need to include with your application are:

  • Site plans showing locations of tanks, distances to property lines, buildings and utilities
  • Data on tanks, piping and equipment to be used
  • Plan of action to remove or abandon tanks on company letterhead
  • Location of underground piping
  • Inerting process

Step 5.Tank installation/removal within town or city limits

Cabarrus County Fire Services does not issue tank installation/removal permits for locations inside the limits of the City of Concord, City of Kannapolis or the Town of Harrisburg.

Step 6.Additional Permits

You may need building or electrical permits in addition to the permit you receive from the Fire Services office.
