The mission of NC Services for the Blind (NCDSB) is to empower individuals. We want blind or visually impaired individuals to achieve their maximum potential. This achievement gets realized through services provided by competent and caring professionals. The ILS program aids in the adjustment to vision loss with services including:
- individual and family counseling
- information and referral
- support groups
- recreational opportunities
- instruction in home management
- personal care
- safe travel skills
Application Process
The social worker for the blind is housed at Human Services. This social worker is in Cabarrus County Wednesday through Friday of each week. The application and assessment process is usually completed in the home setting. Anyone in the community may submit a referral. This includes physicians and human service agencies.
Other Services
Our adult and family intake social workers can help explore other services you or your loved one may need. These services get discovered through an assessment process.
