The Program Integrity Unit maintains the ethics of our public assistance programs. This unit's goal is to deter fraud through education, early detection and prosecution. The Cabarrus Human Services Department is committed to identifying and eliminating fraud.
Welfare fraud is a crime. It occurs when people receive or attempt to receive public assistance benefits by:
- providing Human Services with false and inaccurate information or
- withholding information from Human Services
You are encouraged to report matters involving fraud and abuse. It is okay to remain anonymous. To conduct an effective investigation, staff may need to contact you. Your name will remain concealed from anyone we are investigating. In rare cases, involving legal proceedings, we may need to reveal your name.
To process allegations, we need to get as much information as we can about your complaint. Without enough information, we may be unable to act on your allegation. So we can properly investigate your concerns, provide as much information as possible.
