Yes, if you receive a listing form in the mail, you should either use our online listing option or review, sign, date, and return via U.S Postal Service to:

If you have sold or moved property that is included on a listing form you have received, you must remove from the listing, provide disposal report, and return to prevent future billing.

 

No, if you owned the property January 1, your tax bill will be due and payable as billed. The new owner would be required to list the property the following January.

 

No, but you can file online, using the link at the top of the page, or send in the original completed form to the address below.

If you received a discovery bill it is not necessary to contact our office, the bill can be paid either online or by mailing in the payment. If you have a question about the discovery or believe it is incorrect then you can contact our office at 704-920-2166 option 2, or by email BPP@cabarruscounty.us 

 

Cabarrus County no longer issues business licenses; however, you may wish to consult with your attorney or accountant about other legal steps to be addressed like zoning laws, ABC licenses, etc. 

The only requirement our office has is for you to timely and accurately file your Business Personal Property listing.

Sales and Use Tax information may be obtained from the NC Department of Revenue.

Any business using an assumed name must file a Certificate of Assumed Name with the Register of Deeds.

If you are naming a corporation, limited partnership, or limited liability company, you should reach out to the NC Secretary of State.

The Department of Commerce Business Service Center, 800-228-8443, is a good resource to contact for those starting a business in North Carolina.

 

Yes, this type of property is not taxed annually with your vehicle registration. 

 

If your trailer has a Multi-Year or Permanent tag on it, it is not taxed annually with your vehicle registration, but instead it is taxable as Personal Property and should be listed with the County.
