Flowes Store Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1962. It was organized by members of the community who wanted their own fire department. Flowes Store VFD still consists mostly of members who volunteer their time. To meet demand and ensure coverage, the department has added part-time staffing. They currently staff the fire station with 2 firefighters 24/7/365. Flowes Store VFD provides fire, rescue and first responder services. The station is currently certified as a Medium Rescue provider with the State of NC.
