Lace up your running shoes and put on your best spooky attire because Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks is throwing a 5K run/walk packed with thrills.

The Halloween-themed Jack O’ Lantern Jaunt and Fun Run returns to Frank Liske Park (4001 Stough Rd. Concord, NC 28027) on Saturday, October 26.

The evening kicks off with the Fun Run and Mile Walk at 5 p.m., followed by the 5k at 5:30 p.m.

Every runner will receive a custom race bib, a t-shirt and a race bag filled with festive goodies. All Fun Run finishers will be awarded a medal to commemorate the achievement.

There will be special recognition for those tackling the 5k. The top three finishers in each age category will be honored. A custom plaque will be given to the overall top male and female runners, along with awards for masters (ages 40-49) and grand masters (50 and older) in both male and female categories.

A costume contest will recognize the best-dressed male and female participants.

Registration is $10 for the Fun Run and $25 for the 5k, but hurry—prices increase after October 18.

Pickle-Boo Tournament slated for October 26

If you’re more inclined to spend time on the courts, come out to Frank Liske Park earlier in the day for the Pickle-Boo Tournament.

The inaugural event is presented by Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks, Cabarrus County Special Olympics and Chill Pickle paddles and accessories.

The event begins at 8 a.m., and teams can jump in for $50 or join the inclusive tournament for $20 per player (Special Olympics athletes play for free). Compete in a mix of round-robin, pool play and single elimination rounds.

The Pickle-Boo Tournament is another opportunity to show off your Halloween spirit—prizes will be awarded for the best costume.

All proceeds from the event benefit Cabarrus County Special Olympics. Show your support for some incredible athletes and secure your spot for a day of friendly competition.

Registration closes at 10 a.m. on October 21. To learn more about the event, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/CONCORD/JackOLanternJaunt
