Soil Testing

Our office does not do actual soil testing on site or at your location. We are available to help evaluate soil sample analysis results if necessary.

Free soil testing boxes, forms and information is available to citizens through the Agronomic Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Residents can pick up boxes at the SWCD office (715 Cabarrus Avenue West, Concord). You can also send your boxed soil samples to the Agronomic Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services through our office at no charge. Turnaround time for results varies depending on the time of year.

From December 1 through April 1, the Agronomic Division charges $4 per soil test box. The local SWCD office collects the money and sends it with your boxed samples. Residents may only pay by check or online advance payment.

For information about soil sampling/testing, visit NCDA&CS Agronomic Services.
